Storm Mountain Lodge

On June 18th 2009, Ed and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary. We had never been to Storm Mountain Lodge before but we had heard good things about it and decided to stay for a night. The lodge is only a 25 minute drive from our apartment in Banff and is now by far one of my favourite places in the area.

I believe there are 14 log cabins in total, all originally built in the early 1920's. A wood-burning fireplace, hand-crafted log bed and an antique claw foot tub are just some of the features that make these historic cabins so charming. Add a game of scrabble and some red wine and it was the perfect place for a romantic evening.

The main lodge is rustic with a huge stone fireplace and the most incredible food! Bake brie, Bison Tenderloin, Lamb Shanks and chocolate mousse for dinner and a fresh baked cranberry scone and a cup of delicious local coffee for breakfast.

As soon as I stepped foot inside this place I couldn't stop smiling; it should be named Brena & Edward's Lodge because it was perfect and we couldn't have asked for anything better. It will definitely be tough for the next place we stay to measure up to this!

Vancouver Wedding - Michelle & Andrew

Michelle and Andrew got married on May 23, 2009.  I can not believe over a month has passed already!  If you didn't read the post with their engagement photos, you can find it here

I had a fantastic time photographing their wedding, spending the whole day with Michelle and her bridesmaids while they got ready and all the way into the wee hours of the morning.  An amazing couple, close friends and a hot sunny day on a yacht in Vancouver's Coal Harbour... what a day!  Below are a few photos of the day but go to my Wedding|Engagement Gallery here to view all of my favourites.

I must thank my good friend Ben Benvie for photographing the wedding with me.  Since Andrew and Michelle are close friends of mine, I was also a guest at their wedding as well as the photographer.  Ben was able to capture this flattering moment of me sampling their delicious cupcakes, proof that I was actually at their wedding, thanks Ben!  (click here to view more images from the day).

When we're not working...

It's an amazing thing when you can hang out in a place like this in between shifts at work.  Moraine Lake made the old $20 bill famous... or wait, did the $20 bill make Moraine Lake famous?... either way, it's spectacular and I'm freakin' lucky to be able to see this everyday.

the boss is pregnant

When I'm not taking pictures, I work part-time as an event planner.  Jeff and Naomi are the reason Ed and I moved back to Banff two years ago from Victoria.  Jeff offered me a job, and thank god he did!  I am SO happy to be back in Banff, not only did they give me a job, but they gave me my happiness back! (corny but true, I was very unhappy in Victoria and they gave us a reason to leave and a place to go.  I had a smile on my face the day we drove away from Victoria in our UHaul, ah the memories...)

Seriously, Naomi is due in about 8 weeks with their first baby and I am very happy for them.... but does this mean I'm going to have to work more? hmm...
